It is still August. In the Netherlands the holidays are almost over, in Spain we can still enjoy it a bit longer. During your holidays you probably do not focus very much on your food.
But to really enjoy your holiday, it is important to have enough energy. Proper nutrition and the timing of what you eat can do wonders to make you feel alert, powerful and energetic.

 
 

But what is proper timing and proper nutrition?

There is not one single answer. Lunch in Spain is e.g. around 15h and is the most important meal of the day. Whereas in The Netherlands the main meal dinner is. What the Spaniards do well is eat 5 times a day.
And what might be good for me, might be hell for you. Even though nuts, for example, are a superfood, I should preferably skip it from my menu...

In my latest newsletter I already mentioned that I would write about the different roles different communication types have in a team. Each person has his own qualities and/or imperfections, but also differentiates in the way he takes decisions or how he deals with time management.
 
In a team it is also good to know the do´s and the don´ts with the different types. This influences a better communication and reduces stress.
 
In the table below I will highlight six topics that are important to consider when working in a team. If you take into account all characteristics, the do’s and don’ts and the topics below it will increase work dealt with in teams and reduces stress.

As said in the newsletter of this month stress also has an impact on your relationship. If you feel stressed, you first of all reduce the time to see your friends and family, as you think you have no time for that. Other things seem more important. But as you know by now, it is important to keep the balance right. So keep taking time to be with friends and relatives. This will increase your level of resilience and thereby the impact stress has on your life.

You might also notice a change in how you feel about the company you are with, or they will notice the change before you do. You might feel less relaxed, more agitated and more easily irritated. Little things that normally did not bother you at all, suddenly became important...

One of the main reasons of stress is that your life is not balanced. You can deal with quite a level of stress, if your life is in balance and/or if you have sufficient time and possibilities to recuperate from the stress. The domains that have influence on your stress level are as follows: Body, relations, free time, work and purposeless time.

In the figures below the one on the left means that your life is in balance and on the right it isn´t. Of course it is just an example, it can be different for everyone.
The left figure is an ideal situation, but is does not need to your perfect situation. Maybe your free time is smaller than your working time, but are you happy with it. Or maybe you are single and perfectly happy with that too.

Yes I am a great planner. And you? How are you with planning?

I can spend days in making plans for my business, my year plan, the content calendar, and filling the weekly planner by copying from my todoist. But, I have to admit, I have troubles in executing my plans, or better said keeping to my plans. Even when I think I have planned sufficiently free time to cope with unexpected things I hardly ever manage to execute my plan as planned.
